Integrated Ground based SAR solution for mining

Ground based SAR has proven to be an effective monitoring technique that is able to provide accurate displacement measurements by a fully non-invasive approach. Such a technique has also the great advantage to be very flexible and easily adaptable to a large variety of monitoring scenarios.

An innovative and powerful specialisation of the technique, designed specifically for open pit mines monitoring purposes, has been recently proposed by IDS Ingegneria dei sistemi, the Italian company leader in GB SAR manufacturing. The system is called IBIS-M and exploits at a software level the Ground based SAR data processing kernel by ARESYS. This processing kernel, derived from the GB SAR general purpose softwre called GRAPeS, has been refined and customised for mining applications including ad-hoc features like:

• risky area detection by geometry based models;

• effective high-resolution atmospheric phase screen removal;

• real-time, high stability processing, for a 24/24, 365/365 monitoring capability;
