11 Dec Fully-focusing processing: pushing altimeter data processing a step forward

Fully-focusing of radar altimeters is a recent concept that has been introduced to allow further improvement of along-track resolution up to half a meter.
Within the framework of ESA altimeter studies, ARESYS developed its own innovative processing solution for fully-focusing. What we did is to leverage well known SAR focusing approaches in order to fully exploit the potential of acquisition from radar altimeter missions, like Sentinel-6 and CryoSat.
One of the first acquisitions from Sentinel-6 was processed using the ARESYS fully-focusing processing solution and this image was obtained, revealing exceptional details and highlighting the capability of the radar altimeter instrument.
