14 Dec Optical remote sensing specialist

Description
ARESYS is a R&D oriented company with almost 20 years of history in the field of Remote Sensing and Sensor Networks Solutions. We serve the Space, Defense, Oil&Gas and Automation markets. In our Earth Observation and Sensors Business Units we are developing state-of-art software solutions for Earth Observation Optical applications. The candidate will become a specialist of optical images and data processing, working on real-life data, proposing and prototyping efficient, robust and/or innovative and smart processing algorithms to be then developed in operational environment. Our ideal candidate has a proven attitude to analyse complex remote sensing data problems, to identify the most suitable solution through its background and state-of-art literature research and to accurately implement and validate the solutions.
Main tasks and responsibilities:
The successful candidate may be involved or contribute in some or all of the following activities:
- to analyse Earth Observation optical remote sensing scenarios, users/customers requirements and technical documentation;
- to design scientific algorithms/procedures and to develop prototypes to process data acquired by different types of optical instruments (e.g. VNIR, SWIR, PAN/Multi/Hyperspectral, VHR/HR/MR aerial/satellite borne optical instruments) from raw/calibrated data to geophysical information, including both radiometric and geometric data processing;
- to develop and assess the accuracy and performances of the proposed algorithms both on real and simulated data using both benchmarking analyses and ad hoc SW prototypes;
- to analyse and assess the quality of the optical data products, through definition of proper scientific KPIs;
- to define and execute proper algorithms and products validation processes, including, without limiting, comparison with similar products and in situ data;
- to design a proper software solution to be used as input for the next industrialisation part and to drive operational SW development and tests;
- to contribute to/address SW engineering process and technical documentation drafting.
- to support and attend technical and progress meetings with industrial partners and/or end-users/customers
