30 Years of progress in radar altimetry

Cristal’s answer: cooperation is better than competition! The symposium 30 Years of progress in radar altimetry, a time of celebration organized by European Space Agency and CNES shared with other companies and organizations involved in the development of altimetry, has just concluded.

We are glad to have contributed to the work Cristal performance assessment: an end-to-end simulation approach and thank our colleague Albert Garcia-Mondéjar from isardSAT, part of the consortium together with Airbus for the Cristal mission.

The moments of meeting with our colleagues are always great source of growth and we are grateful to have deepened the applications on Fully-Focused SAR processing and SWOT measurement principle and processing algorithms covering inland water, oceanography and the cryosphere.

IGARSS 2024

This week Aresys took part to the yearly appointment organized by IEEE, the International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium. More than 2500 scientists and professionals met in Athens to share updates and latest perspectives for research development and investments in the sector!

Aresys presented with contributions on SATURN, aiming to be the first MIMO SAR mission in the near future, as well as with contributions on L-band SAR forest 3D mapping, bistatic SAR tomography, MIMO SAR tomography for snow mapping.

L’impegno italiano nel settore dei CubeSat: tecnologie e missioni future

“L’impegno italiano nel settore dei CubeSat: tecnologie e missioni future”, the second workshop organized by the Agenzia Spaziale Italiana on the topic, has just concluded.

Exhibiting the technological advancement of Aresys with respect to Cubesats allowed us to explore with other participants the Smart Transceiver we have designed for RADAR/ TLC Payloads for next generation SmallSats.

Comparing with companies, researchers and other experts allows us to continue our work with passion in a broader perspective of collaboration and sharing of expertise!

Bridging Knowledge: Artificial Intelligence, ASI symposium

Aresys had the opportunity to participate in the symposium “Bridging Knowledge: Artificial Intelligence” organized by Agenzia Spaziale Italiana. It was an enlightening experience that allowed us to understand further applications of AI and machine learning in space and Earth Observation.

Aresys is a prominent AI solution provider and we are developing advanced Remote sensing AI solutions like oil spill detection and maritime traffic monitoring for the service segment of IRIDE (https://lnkd.in/dCSf3jQE) or our product for the cloud and cloud shadows segmentation for muti-spectral images (https://lnkd.in/dk6XHHcZ).

Interacting with ASI and its supporting companies provided us with new insights and new drivers to advance the uses of AI in Earth Observation!

EUSAR 2024

Aresys recently participated at the prestigious EUSAR 2024 organized by German Aerospace Center (DLR) in Munich and is proud to announce that the work “FDM MIMO SAR Tomography” by Politecnico di Milano, Aresys and ISAE-SUPAERO won the best paper award for a significant contribution in the SAR field.

The work, presented by Professor Stefano Tebaldini from Politecnico di Milano, focuses on a new distributed SAR tomography concept, developed in collaboration with Aresys.

VH-RODA 2023

Aresys participated in the Very High-resolution Radar & Optical Data Assessment (VH-RODA) 2023 Workshop was held in ESA-ESRIN, Frascati, Italy, from 27 – 30 November 2023. In quality of responsible of non-ESA SAR missions‘ quality assessment, we presented the results achieved in the framework of the Earthnet Data Assessment Project (EDAP+). To read more about the project: https://earth.esa.int/eogateway/activities/edap.

We were also glad to introduce to the SAR community the SAR Calibration Toolbox (SCT), an open-source tool developed by Aresys and funded by ESA, that will allow users to perform multi-mission SAR cal/val and quality analyses. The tool will be released to the public in April 2024. We are happy to contribute to the definition of standards in the SAR data quality assessment for both space agencies and new space missions.

8th International BioGeoSAR Workshop

Aresys participated at the 8th International BioGeoSAR Workshop organized by Sapienza Università di Roma and European Space Agency – ESA in Rome.

The workshop was foucused on SAR applications to address real-life topics for society. Francesco Banda, our SAR Scientist, exposed recent developments on BIOMASS processing to generate forest products, whereas professor Stefano Tebaldini from Politecnico di Milano presented a new distributed tomography concept for snow mapping, developed in collaboration with Aresys.

Italian Aerospace Mission

What a great journey! From October 23 to 27 Davide D’Aria, Aresys CEO, and Fabio Gerace, our Business Development Manager, took part in the Italian Aerospace Mission. From SpaceX and Rocket Lab‘s next-generation rockets, through Virgin Galactic‘s spaceflights concepts and up to the moon with Axiom Space‘s lunar exploration innovations. Without missing a must-see visit to the iconic NASA’s JPL and JSC headquarters.

We would like to thank again Agenzia Spaziale Italiana and ITA Houston – Italian Trade Agency for this great opportunity and to the selected excellence of the Italian aerospace industry that was our fellow traveler. We come back home, with strengthen links to our national space industries and institutions and a renewed impulse to innovate and push forward our technologies.

HPC Industry Summit

High Performance Computing coupled with AI techniques allow to monitor water reservoirs from space. Have a look to the smart monitoring tool based on ESA Sentinel-2 optical images that Paolo Mazzucchelli, our manager of HPC and geophysical solutions, presented at the HPC industry Summit in Berlin, from October 18th to 19th.
