Biomass Operational Processor

Carrying a novel P-band synthetic aperture radar, the Biomass mission is designed to deliver crucial information about the state of our forests and how they are changing, and to further our knowledge of the role forests play in the carbon cycle.

After contributing to several preparation activities since year 2014, Aresys is currently in charge of the development of BPS (Biomass Processing Suite) the operational official processing solution for the mission.

Partners

The industrial team led by ARESYS is composed by DLR and Capgemini and it is supported by a team of the most renowned science institutions in the field, including Politecnico di Milano, Chalmers and CESBIO.

Processing solution

BPS includes tailored Level-1 SAR processing capabilities (based on SARFOC) and it completes the processing pipeline through state-of-art Level-2 and Level-3 processors that retrieves a periodical global-scale Above Ground Biomass map.
